Telcontar Perm. Reg'd English
Setters
English Setters were my first love and at age 15, I
purchased an orange belton bitch puppy from Honey Glendinning of
the renowned Fantail English Setters. Fantail's Tinuviel of Telcontar
or 'Larkin' became my first champion. Larkin was eventually bred to the
lovely tricolor BIS Ch Briarpatch of Bryn Mawr and produced five
puppies, one of whom I kept and showed, Can/Am Ch Telcontar's Arwen
Evenstar, a beautiful orange belton bitch.
When I relocated to New York, Arwen went to live in Miami where
she was shown. While living in NY I attended a number of dog shows and
met Mary Margaret Ruth of Wicket English Setters. I was so impressed
with her dogs, I returned West with an orange belton, dog, Can/Am
Ch. Wicket's Ragtime Band 'Alex'. Alex finished his canadian and
American titles quickly while still a youngster. Upon learning that
Mary was repeating the breeding I asked for a bitch puppy. This
resulted in Ch. Wicket's Alberta Clipper 'Maddie'. Maddie.
Although on the small side was a lovely bitch and I felt she would
produce well bred to the right dog. At the time, Paula Dempsey
was showing a lovely blue boy, Ch. Caberet Manuscript 'Elliot' who had
everything, Maddie needed.

Sweetie 'Fanny'
'Fanny' shone from the start and was clearly the pick puppy in the
litter, so when Elliot's new owners, the Ronalds came to pick their
stud fee puppy I was surprised that they wanted a boy who later
became Can Ch Telcontar's XTC of Marron. Feeling they were making the
wrong choice, I offered them Fanny on a co-ownership as I wanted
to have a daughter of hers to carry on the line. They took Fanny
but sadly never honoured the written and signed agreement.Fanny
fulfilled her promise by winning a record breaking 55 Best In Shows,
numerous specialties , Top Dog All Breeds and Purina's Show of
Shows Fanny was beautifully conditioned and handled throughout her
career by Doug Belter. Despite letters and phone calls to the Ronalds,
they refused to acknowledge the contract they signed, even going so far
as to forge my signature to transfer Fanny's reg'd papers over into
their name only.
